Very minor slight loss to paint of the green band on the inner rim of the plate, some fading and lack of definition to the image of the boy cricketer, particularly to the grey areas of the image, this may well have happened in the firing process, otherwise in good/very good condition. Gunn & Moore advertising panel c1920s. Excellent original colour enamel metal advertising panel titled 'The English Eleven 1885'. The panel features colour vignettes of the captain W.G. Grace to the centre, surrounded by slightly smaller vignettes of the teams superimposed on crossed Gunn and Moore bats with cricket scenes and local attractions in the background. Players' names are listed to lower border with advertising slogan to lower border, 'For Over 50 Years, leading players the world over have used Gunn & Moore's "Autograph" Bats'. The bail is hollow and in two sections which come apart. Inside is a rolled scroll detailing the scores in the game with facsimile autographs of both teams. The match was drawn. Produced by Pobjoy Mint Limited of Surrey and limited in this form to an issue of 1500. Previously sold as lot 143 in the Phillips sale of 22nd May 1997.
