M.C.C. tour to Australia 1924/25. Album page signed in ink by ten members of the M.C.C. touring party. Signatures are Gilligan (Captain), Toone (Manager), Chapman, Bryan, Tate, Hobbs, Freeman, Sandham, Hendren and Sutcliffe. The page has had other signatures clipped, slightly affecting the signatures of Hobbs and Sutcliffe, and is laid down to slightly larger page. Sold with a further album page signed in pencil by five England Test and county players of 1925. Signatures are Sandham, Sadler (Surrey), Woolley, Tate and Seymour (Kent). Annotated in ink to verso 'Kindly obtained by W. Payton [Nottinghamshire], 1925'. G

England 'Winners of the Ashes 1926'. A montage of an album page surrounded by four pieces, all comprising nice signatures in black ink of the eleven members of the victorious England team for the fifth and final Test at The Oval, 14th- 18th August 1926. Signatures to the central page are of Hobbs, Hendren, Stevens, Strudwick, Geary (on piece laid down) and Larwood. The surrounding four pieces comprise the signatures of Chapman, Woolley, Sutcliffe, Tate and Rhodes. Hand printed title to mount. Framed and glazed, overall 7.5"x11". The signatures were personally collected by the vendor's father as a schoolboy at the Oval. G/VG

With the first four Tests all drawn, England won the deciding 'Timeless' Test by 289 runs. Australia established a small lead after the first innings, but England scored 436 in their second innings (Hobbs 100, Sutcliffe 161). Requiring 411 runs to win, Australia were dismissed for 125 to seal England's victory, so regaining The Ashes.

The page, with corners neatly trimmed, is mounted, framed and glazed, overall 7.5"x11". Slight smudge to the Ellis signature, otherwise in good/very good condition. M.C.C. tour of Australia 1932/33 'Bodyline'. Album page nicely signed in ink by twelve members of the 1932/33 M.C.C. touring party. Signatures are Jardine (Captain), Wyatt, Duckworth, Hammond, Voce, Tate, Allen, Ames, Paynter, Brown, Sutcliffe and Warner (Manager). The page is window mounted beside a printed title, below an excellent original large mono proof on photographic paper taken from the original pen and ink caricature/ cartoon artwork by artist Samuel Wells for an Australian newspaper of the M.C.C. team including Captain Douglas Jardine. The cartoon features a splendid heraldic image of Jardine, drawn as a lion, wearing Harlequin cap and batting pads and trademark neckerchief holding his bat in the air in shield, surrounded by cameos of the rest of the touring party. Each player is featured in a different poses, Tate is made out to be a large giant of a bowler, Hammond, full of runs/scores, a smiley Mitchell, Larwood bounding in etc. Also featured is R.M.V. Robins 'Selected but unable to go'. The cartoon, undated, measures 10.5"x14.5". An excellent image. Mounted, framed and glazed, overall 17.5"x26". Good/ very good condition
