The Ashes. England v Australia 1930. Two joined album pages very nicely signed in ink by twelve members of the England team and all fifteen members of the Australian touring party. England signatures are Wyatt (Captain), Tate, Hammond, Leyland, Whysall, Larwood, Hendren, Duckworth, Duleepsinhji and Peebles. Australians are Woodfull (Captain), Fairfax, Grimmett, Ponsford, Richardson, Jackson, Bradman, McCabe, Oldfield, Wall, Walker, Hurwood, a'Beckett, Hornibrook and Kippax. The pages are window mounted alongside an original scorecard for the fifth Test at The Oval, 16th- 22nd August 1930, with complete printed scores. Attractively mounted, framed and glazed, overall 16"x16". Slight smudge to the signature of Walker, otherwise in very good condition

With the series tied at 1-1, England dropped their captain, Percy Chapman, for the deciding 'timeless' fifth Test in favour of R.E.S. Wyatt. With England having made 405 (Sutcliffe 161) in their first innings, Australia replied with 695 (Bradman 232, Ponsford 110) and then bowled England out for 251 to win by an innings and 39 runs, so winning the series 2-1 to regain the Ashes

M.C.C. tour of Australia 1932/33 'Bodyline'. Album page nicely signed in ink by twelve members of the 1932/33 M.C.C. touring party. Signatures are Jardine (Captain), Wyatt, Duckworth, Hammond, Voce, Tate, Allen, Ames, Paynter, Brown, Sutcliffe and Warner (Manager). The page is window mounted beside a printed title, below an excellent original large mono proof on photographic paper taken from the original pen and ink caricature/ cartoon artwork by artist Samuel Wells for an Australian newspaper of the M.C.C. team including Captain Douglas Jardine. The cartoon features a splendid heraldic image of Jardine, drawn as a lion, wearing Harlequin cap and batting pads and trademark neckerchief holding his bat in the air in shield, surrounded by cameos of the rest of the touring party. Each player is featured in a different poses, Tate is made out to be a large giant of a bowler, Hammond, full of runs/scores, a smiley Mitchell, Larwood bounding in etc. Also featured is R.M.V. Robins 'Selected but unable to go'. The cartoon, undated, measures 10.5"x14.5". An excellent image. Mounted, framed and glazed, overall 17.5"x26". Good/ very good condition

The match was drawn, M.C.C. having amassed a total of 734-7 declared (Hammond 225, Hendren 167, Jardine 140). Following on, Bradman ended 132no and Kippax 136no in Australia's second innings.

Don Bradman made his Test debut in the first Ashes Test two weeks later. Aged only 19, Archie Jackson made his Test debut in the fourth Test of the series, in which he became the youngest player to make a Test century, scoring 164 in Australia's first innings. He died of tuberculosis aged 23 in 1933
