Golf. Silver cigarette case presented to J. Sibson (a professional at Rushcliffe Golf Club 1931-1933) by the President. 'N.A. & P.G.A. to J. Sibson, in appreciation, J. Ward, President'. Details engraved to face of case. Also with engraved signatures of the President and Committee and golfers? to front and back. Sibson, then collected signatures of sporting and entertainment stars who scratched their signatures to the inside gilt lining, signatures include Don Bradman, Billy Cotton, Len Harvey, George Gunn, Tommy Lawton etc. The case hallmarked London 1930 and in good condition. Previously sold in Vennett-Smith's auction of November 1999 as lot 58

Ryder Cup 1933. Great Britain v United States of America. Album page containing the ink signatures of seventeen British and American players who took part in the 1933 tournament held in Southport on the 26th/27th June 1933. Ten signatures of the American team, Walter Hagan, Billy Burke, Leo Diegel, Ed Dudley, Olin Dutra, Gene Sarazen, Denny Shute, Horton Smith, Paul Runyan and Craig Wood and seven of the British team, J.H. Taylor, Percy Alliss, Bill Davies, Arthur Havers, Arthur Lacey, Abe Mitchell and Alf Padgham. Also signed by Samuel Ryder, patron and benefactor of the Ryder Cup competition and Edward Ray, former Ryder Cup player/captain. The nineteen signatures signed onto four pieces of lined paper and laid down to a larger album page. The page measures 4.5"x5.25". Minor smudge to one signature otherwise in good/very good condition. The Great Britain team won the 4th Ryder Cup competition by a score of 6½-5½ points, which at the time was the closest score possible other than a tie. As with the three previous events, the host team won and the series was tied at two wins each. John Henry Taylor became only the second of three Team Great Britain captains to ever lift the Ryder Cup and was Great Britain's last Ryder Cup victory until 1957
